Peter Shaw studied as a teacher, where he specialised in Art as his main subject. Following his final year degree show he was awarded the Northern Bank prize for Art and Design. Since then he has been painting and exhibiting his work in galleries throughout Ireland. His work also hangs in private collections in North America, South Africa, New Zealand and England. Peter lives with his family in County Antrim where he paints from his studio.
I love the ordinary, the everyday little pockets of life; the corner of a field, a snowbank, the light on the water or a simple, white wall. It is what you yourself see in a particular subject, what you bring to it, that gives it a life of its own. The artist illuminates the everyday.
